Very much in the Endless Journey school of
heavy psych with ripping wah wah fuzz and wasted stoned vocals
this album is finally housed in the psych packaging it requires. The vinyl is a 10" mini album format and the CD is in a mini gatefold LP sleeve (Please note this is a short album at just over 21 minutes)

Their music is a very violent abrasive garage punk with very psychedelic grafts. Very rare, only a few copies on acetate were released. Originally recorded in 1970, unreleased one sided acetate. Some great garage guitar psych with intense basement atmosphere and junkie lyrics, well worth checking out.

Get it here !
pw = http://rarestlp.blogspot.com/

1969 - Stack - Above All - [HARD ROCK/PSYCH]

1969 - Stack - Above All
[HARD ROCK/PSYCH]

California Psych
Vinyl is 6* on POKORA

(Variable Bitrate - Not my RIP)

A local Californian release and one of the rarest and probably the most significant American private press hard rock album of the era. Stack was
'discovered' in the mid-eighties and since then only a half-dozen original copies have ever turned up. Above All is a heavy blaster with echoes of U.K.
freakbeat / psych creeping around in the shadows - Stack had an unusually super-distorted guitar sound, the result of using special custom made amps from a private factory in Los Angeles called Quilter. There's also one cover version - a wild garage R&B of Leiber and Stoller's Poison Ivy, and the remaining
tracks are sixties style hard rock.

Stack were a figurehead group in a busy hard rock scene exploding out of the Los Angeles area in the late sixties. Formed out a surf act called The Vandells and another local act called Wabash Spencer, they went on to gig with such notables as Buffalo Springfield, Three Dog Night, Iron Butterfly, Illinois Speed Press and Frank Zappa. They were also often supported by Alice Cooper! However, fame and fortune eluded the band, not for lack of talent but because of a 'bum' deal from their record company. Signed for an eight year contract they were subsequently written off as a tax-loss, which left them contractually bound, no money and nowhere to go but obscurity.

Get it here !
pw = http://rarestlp.blogspot.com/

1973 - Peggy's Leg - Grinilla - [UK PSYCH/ROCK/BLUES]

1973 - Peggy's Leg - Grinilla
[UK PROG]

Irish progressive rock
Vinyl is 5* on POKORA

(192k - Not my RIP)

In late 1972 Jimi Sleven formed Peggy's Leg with drummer Don Harris, guitarist Jimmy Gibson and bassist Vincent Duffy. This lineup worked wonders from the word go and in no time were topping the local popularity polls. In '73 they were voted Best New Group, Don Harris Best Drummer and Jimi Best Guitarist, and appeared live at the New Spotlight poll winners concert in Dublin's National Stadium.

The Leg played all over Ireland bringing their unique sound as far west as Achill Island, where they played in the legendary Wavecrest Hotel, and also appeared regularly at Donal Corvin's 'Gonzo's Rock Palace' in Moran's Hotel in Dublin, then one of the premiere rock venues in the country. The Leg also played regularly at venues throughout Northern Ireland despite the tragedy of the Miami Showband massacre where Jimi lost a good friend and possible future Leg member in that most talented and genial of Dubliners, the great Tony Geraghty.

In late 1973, and by this time under the management of John Dee, one time member of the Irish cult band Mushroom, Peggy's Leg recorded the album 'Grinilla', a work comprising five lengthy original compositions and a version of Saber Dance largely modeled on the Dave Edmonds' Love Sculpture hit.

Grinilla was well received by critics and fans alike at the time, and although it was recorded in only a few days (23 studio hours) and with a minimum of overdubs or time to correct mistakes, still ranks as a fine work and has become a much sought after collector's item. An original copy in good condition can fetch thousands of Euros. Jimi's re-mastered and greatly improved CD version was licensed to the London-based Kissing Spell label, but is now back in the band's possession since late 2005.

The original Peggy's Leg line-up stayed together for six months or so after the Grinilla release when Vincent Duffy decided to do his own thing. Vince was replaced after a long search by the talented Martin Biseneiks on keyboards and finally by the wonderful John Brady on bass. In 1975 Jimi decided to leave the Leg, and again under the management of John Dee, joined Brush Shiels, Nollaig Bridgeman and Timmy Creedon in the reformed Skid Row. Peggy's Leg stayed together for a few months with the brilliant Eric Bell replacing Jimi on guitar, but disbanded shortly afterwards.

(From Jimi Slevin's website)

Get it here !
pw : http://rarestlp.blogspot.com/

1968 - Churchill's - [ISRAEL Psych]

1968 - Churchill's
[ISRAEL Psych]

Israel's Psych
Vinyl is 6* on POKORA

(128k - Not My RIP)

The Churchills' sole album is above average for a rare psychedelic late-'60s obscurity, and an important document as the only Israeli psychedelic record to achieve even a bit of an international cult, but not as interesting as some of the buzz generated on the collector's circuit may have you believe. Heavily influenced by both West Coast psychedelia and late-'60s British hard rock, there's often a Jack Bruce-type resonance to the vocals, and a garage-Doors vibe to the guitar-organ interplay and spacy-but-somber lyrics. Sometimes they let more of a Middle Eastern element into play, as on "Subsequent Final," a mandolin tune which sounds like a psychedelic hora dance.

One of the top 10 psych albums of all time (fact).
